It was reported today that there is an enormous £20 billion pot of pension money that remains unclaimed, due, mainly, to people changing employers, changing address and becoming untraceable.
Pension providers should be sending out statements of accrued benefit each year, but if you are no longer receiving these, there are some steps you can take to trace your lost pensions.
You can contact:
Your Pension Provider
If you know which provider this was, you can contact then directly
Your Former Employer
If the pension in question was a work place pension, your former employer should have information, but you will need some basic details available, such as, your NI number and the dates of your employment.
The Government Website
This is a free service with a data base of 200,000 work-place and personal pensions schemes where you should be able to locate your own scheme or plan.

It is certainly worth checking; you may have more entitlement than you thought.
